The Grove is a Waldorf-inspired integrative and regenerative education project in Stroud, for home educating children and young people. We strive to offer children and young people a selection of resources to help equip them towards being self-reflective, skilled, intuitive and active people of society.

Meet the Team

  • Daniel Friedeberg

    Mentor / games and movement

    Daniel is a trained class teacher and games and movement teacher, having worked in Steiner Academy Exeter, South Devon Steiner School and Ruskin Mill College. Daniel deeply resonates with the child-centred facilitative approach at The Grove, and the pillars of meditation, self-reflection and deep intuition, which echo his own personal practice.

  • Tiggy Donoghue

    Mentor / handwork

    Tiggy is a trained class teacher having worked in Rudolf Steiner School Kings Langley, The Acorn School and St Michaels Steiner School. A gifted story-teller and handwork teacher, Tiggy describes herself as a skilled Jack of all trades who can support both the children and the adults of the Grove on their learning journeys. 

  • Verity McLellan

    Mentor / director

    Verity is co-ordinator for The Grove, a trained class teacher, youth worker and community theatre practitioner. A passionate advocate for student-led learning and circles of support and self-reflection, she is a keen organiser, a community initiator and an experienced festival coordinator.

  • Jo Minto

    Mentor / art

    Jo is an experienced science and maths teacher and tutor and has worked in various forms of education for the past 8 years with focus on the upper years and supporting curriculum development. Jo has a passion for inquiry-based, student-led learning, and a love for the arts and regenerative living.

  • Thol Mason

    Music tutor

    Thol is an experienced music tutor and musician, having studied at the Royal Northern College of Music. He is a performer and composer, and often his work with children and young people lead to collaborative compositions of all kinds.

  • Mike Hadjipateras

    Humanities and drama tutor

    Mike is an experienced Waldorf upper school teacher, weaving his love for the stage into his history and humanities sessions, bringing a rich and all round experience of the subjects, leaving a deep impression on the students he teaches.

  • Christian Gruetzmacher

    Land tutor

    Christian trained as an anthroposophical special needs educator and has worked for over 10 years as a carer and workshop leader, both within communities and privately. He is experienced in craft, land management, landcrafts, biodynamic horticulture and bee-keeping.

Guardians

The Grove Team is supported by a team of Guardians. The Guardians collectively hold the ethos of The Grove, and support in all ways needed, which includes practical, listening, advising and mindful holding.
